Srinagar: Sheher-e-Khass Sports Fraternity held its meeting on Saturday with the focus on to discuss player welfare issues and development of sports infrastructure in downtown area of Srinagar city.
The meeting was held under chairmainship of Parvez Siddiqui, and in presence of patron Wasim Aslam, alongside dedicated members of the sports fraternity, aiming to address critical issues and enhance the welfare of players and youth in Downtown Srinagar.
“In the heart of Downtown Srinagar, our gathering delved into multifaceted concerns affecting the local sports scene and the well-being of our youth. The foremost topic of discussion revolved around player welfare, acknowledging the need for comprehensive support systems catering to the physical, mental, and professional development of our athletes. Strategies were brainstormed to ensure access to proper training facilities, healthcare resources, and mentorship programs to nurture their talents effectively,” statement said.
“Addressing the glaring infrastructure deficiency in sports facilities within Downtown was another paramount focus. The lack of adequate grounds, training centers, and quality equipment impedes the growth of aspiring athletes. Plans were outlined to collaborate with concerned authorities for the development and refurbishment of existing sports infrastructure, fostering an environment conducive to the growth of sporting talents”.
In the meeting special emphasis was laid on the misuse of Downtown name by certain elements.
“The misuse of the esteemed Downtown name by certain elements for personal gain was a matter of serious concern. It was unanimously agreed upon that safeguarding the integrity and heritage of Downtown Srinagar from exploitation is crucial. Measures will be taken to prevent any unwarranted use of the area’s name for personal or vested interests, ensuring it remains a symbol of pride and identity for the community,” it said.
The meeting concluded on a proactive note, with a commitment to implement actionable solutions that resonate with the core values of integrity, inclusivity, and progress for the benefit of our players and the youth of Downtown Srinagar.
