Srinagar: With break in International Cricket, most of the Pakistan cricketers are playing in ongoing T20 Vitality Blast in England. That mean they face off eachother and recent incident involved Shaheen Afridi vs Zaman Khan exciting contest.
It was a pace battle between two pacers from Pakistan. However, the battle was not for the speeds but one had ball in hand and other was facing the snorters.
The senior pacer Shaheen Afridi has starred with both bat and ball for his side while as Zaman Khan is building a reputation of Yorker king.
Shaheen has been in run-scoring columns in the Blast, putting on several lower-order boundary blitzes as the Outlaws continue to dominate the North Group. Playing against Derbyshire Falcons last night, Shaheen took two wickets in the first innings to limit Notts’ chase to 143.
A mini-collapse in the Outlaws innings destabilized their grip on the chase, going from 41-0 to 49-3 half-way through the sixth over. But, by the time Shaheen came into bat, he was in full finisher mode, with only 20 more runs required for victory.
He had already hit a six off Mark Watt by the time Khan came onto bowl.
Facing Zaman Khan’s first ball, Shaheen picked up the full delivery and deposited him over the deep mid-wicket boundary. The shot reduced the equation to four runs needed off the remaining 11 balls of the match.
A leg-bye and a dot came off Khan’s next two balls before the bowler managed to get the last laugh.
Khan bowled a shorter ball to Shaheen, who look to carve another maximum, attempting a pull shot this time.
However, his wild swipe only succeeded in getting a thick top edge on the ball, which flew straight up into the air for Leus du Plooy to take a simple catch.
Shaheen departed for 14 off seven balls, but Notts won the match off the next ball, with Khan bowling a no-ball.
He finished the game with figures of 2-34 off three overs and four balls.
