Srinagar: The first reaction by cricketer Sarfaraz Khan on his maiden India Test callup has gone viral.
India on Monday called Sarfaraz Khan to the squad as the two senior cricketers Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were ruled out of second Test vs England.
Sarfaraz has been enjoying an impressive run of form in domestic cricket for the past couple of years and his inclusion in the squad was welcomed by many fans on social media.
After the announcement, Sarfaraz shared a post from India batter and Mumbai teammate Suryakumar Yadav who wrote – “Maiden India call. Utsav ki taiyaarrii karo (get ready for celebration)”.
“Mr Ravindra Jadeja and Mr KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024,” the BCCI said in a media release.
“The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo,” it added.
The selection committee has added Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan, left-arm spinner Sourabh Kumar and all-rounder Washington Sundar to the squad for the second Test.
It is a maiden national call up for Sarfaraz after scoring truck load of runs in domestic cricket and more recently in the India A series against England Lions.
