Srinagar: Indian Tennis Superstar Sania Mirza has broken her silence after her former husband and Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik announced his new marriage.
On Saturday, Malik announced on his social media handles that he has married actress Sana Javed. The announcement surprised everyone and fans since have been hitting out at Shoiab for ditching Sania Mirza.
Meanwhile Mirza’s family has issued a statement, revealing that the tennis star had been divorced for several months and expressing a preference for privacy regarding the details of the separation.
“Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead,” the statement read.
“At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well- wishers to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy.”
Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik had tied the knot in April 2010 and welcomed their son, Izhaan, in October 2018.
