‘Rohit Sharma fails to perform when team needs him’: Matthew Hayden

Srinagar: Former Australia cricketer Matthew Hayden has lashed out at Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma for failing to deliver for the team when it needs him after Mumbai were knocked out of IPL 2023.

Mumbai Indians suffered 62 run defeat against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 on Friday. Rohit Sharma once again failed to perform as Mumbai couldn’t chase 23 run target set by Gujarat.Rohit was dismissed by Mohammad Shami on the score of eight runs.

For his lack of runs and failing to turn up on big occasions with the bat, Australia legend Matthew Hayden has criticized India skipper.

“Never saw Rohit Sharma performing when his team needs him the most, whether it’s for India or MI,” upset Matthew Hayden said as quoted by businessupturn.com.

“A lot was expected of Rohit in the ongoing season but the skipper failed to live up to the standards and didn’t make any significant contribution to the team”.

GT beat MI By 62 Runs. Shubman Gill scored his third IPL century in four matches to floor Mumbai bowling. After that Mohit Sharma took five wicket haul as Mumbai Indians failed to chase the target.
