Rasikh Salam missing, few ‘blue-eyed’, overage players included in the JKCA U-19 squad

JKCA has yet again landed into a controversy as one of the highly rated junior cricketers, Rasik Salam has been dropped while a few undeserving and overage players are featuring the U-19 squad.

The squad was announced on Friday evening with 10 players each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions included in the team. However, players and senior cricketers have highly criticised the list and alleged a few ‘blue-eyed’ players have been given the priority while some deserving players have been left out.

The exclusion of Rasikh Salam who is much ahead of his age-group is another shocker from the squad. He, however, is already onboarding with the senior team in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Meanwhile, to clear the pitch on whether that is the reason for his exclusion, we reached to a reliable source of JKCA and he confirmed,

“Rasikh Salam’s exclusion from the squad is a big shocker for me and all of us. How can they ignore a U-19 player who has been included in the senior team? Also, we had cleared that as U-19 tournament begins, he will leave the senior team and play for the U-19 side.”

Exceeding the fiasco, selectors have included a player(name withheld) who has scored mere 40 runs in 8 trial matches while one more player in the team is more than 20 years of age,

“We are left wordless. When a player with 40 runs in 8 trial matches and above age players are in the squad, how can we expect better performances from the team,” a couple of players told KSW.

A senior cricketer has also expressed his concern over the selection of the team,

“These selectors are ruining the career of talented cricketers. This has always been the case with JKCA. We had though that things might improve but they are worsening,” a senior player said.
