Srinagay: Young batter Sameer Rizvi made a sensational IPL batting debut as he smashed spin maestro Rashid Khan for two sixes in his debut over.
In the match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, Sameer Rizvi played a cameo of 14 runa from 6 balls to help CSK breach 200 run total.
Rashid Khan looked impressive with the ball, dismissing Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube. However, he was humbled by CSK debutant Sameer Rizvi, who hammered him for two massive sixes in an over.
The incident occurred in the 19th over of CSK’s innings when GT captain Shubman Gill brought Rashid Khan to complete his spell. After getting Dube out, Rashid faced the wrath of Rizvi, playing his first-ever IPL game.
As soon as Rizvi entered the middle, Rashid welcomed him with a harmless full length delivery around the leg and middle stump. The batter went for an audacious slog sweep, dispatching the ball into the square leg stands.
He followed it up with another huge hit, this time over the long off, as Rashid tried to outfox him with a tossed-up googly.
Although he got out off Mohit Sharma’s bowling in the final over, Rizvi’s timely onslaught helped CSK breach the 200-run mark, as they finished their innings with a whopping 206-run total on the board.
Even MS Dhoni was impressed with the batting of Sameer Rizvi.
