Punjab on Tuesday defeated J&K by 30 runs in the first practice match at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar.
Chasing a target of 181 runs, J&K lost too many wickets earlier on. They were reduced to 94-6 in 14 overs with none of the top and middle-order batters applying themselves on the crease.
However, thanks to the lower order’s late blitz, J&K recovered a bit at the fag end of the inning. Shubham Pundir remained the highest run-getter, making 42 runs. He was supported well by Nasir Lone who made 33.
Yudhvir Singh lastly also struck a cameo of 22 runs. In the end, J&K needed 32 off 12 balls and they fell short by 30 runs, hence making 150 all-out in 18.5 overs.
For Punjab, Baltej Singh and Siddarth Kaul picked up four wickets each.
This was the first match of the scheduled four-match practice series between J&K and Punjab.
