Srinagar, July 16: Ifham Tariq Friday starred for Downtown Heroes again as they defeated Shaheen FC Jammu in the ongoing Professional League at Synthetic Turf TRC, here.
Having won both the previous games, Downtown Heroes FC dominated the show in the beginning. Ifham Tariq then scored a magnificent goal in the 30th minute of the first half, lifting the excitement among spectators. In the second half Shaheen FC started on an aggressive note, making several good moves, however, failed to find the net.
In the 55th minute, Downtown Heroes consolidated their lead through Kwesi Sessy, who scored another goal and they maintained the lead till the end. Ifham Tariq was declared man of the match for the second consecutive time. Gautam Mazumdar, an ace Footballer of yesteryears, distributed the honours to Ifham Tariq.
The second match between Kashmir Avengers FC & Lonestar KFC (LKFC) was evenly balanced initially. Both the teams exhibited quality football, trying different techniques to find the net. In the 20th minute, Lonestar KFC finally succeeded in converting a fine goal by Talib Gulzar.
The second half started with temperature raising high as Kashmir Avengers FC was trying hard to utilise their energy and expertise to find an equalizer but they could not succeed. In the 55th minute of the match, LKFC was awarded a penalty kick for wrong tackling inside the penalty area. Raghav of LKFC made no mistake in converting the penalty to a successful goal.
In the dying movement of the match, Kashmir Avengers FC was awarded a penalty kick for foul play inside the penalty area and Kelvin of Kashmir Avenger FC found the net. Thus LKFC defeated Kashmir avengers by 2 goals to one.
