Competing in the India Baja 2018, that is considered one of the toughest rallies in Country after a two year hiatus from the desert rallying, Taufeeq showed his class again by bagging first position in Quad category while driving Polaris Sportsman ATV 400 CC.

For his performance Polaris India management recently felicitated the driver and termed him motorsport icon of J&K.

While felicitating Taufeeq, Managing Director and Country Head, Polaris India Pankaj Dubey said, “This victory in India Baja 2018 is a matter of great pride for Polaris. I would like to congratulate Taufeeq Mughal on behalf of Polaris Sportsman ATV for displaying fantastic performance and providing us this lifetime motorsports experience. The rally is a test of endurance even for the most experienced competitors as it requires time to adjust to the desert”.

On the occasion Taufeeq said, “ It was a great experience for me as I made a comeback to the motorsport world after two years. Being a mountain rallyist, it was a challenging experience driving in the Thar Desert for the first time. The terrain of India Baja was challenging and exciting at the same time. Thanks to the rugged Polaris Sportsman ATV which had a sharp handling capability with good rough-terrain stability, made it easier to finish this grueling rally giving tough competition to the fellow rallyists,”.

Taufeeq said that J&K has got huge potential of Riders and Rally drivers and need is promote them and also provide them platform to show their talent.

“The youth of J&K are good drivers and riders, but it’s unfortunate that some of the youth are into drugs. It is better to show your potential in adventure sports, national games, or exploring the state of J&K, which is still 80% more to explore,” he said.

On the occasion Taufeeq also requested Tourism and Traffic Police department for not entraining any club or event in State that is not registered with Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) as motorsport carry high degree of risk.

“Motorsport is among the adventure sport category and it involves high degree of risk. There is huge potential in J&K for the sport and Tourism department should bring in registered and experienced hands to conduct the events in State,” he added.
