Never made this Statement: Preity Zinta on Rohit Sharma to Punjab Kings rumours

Srinagar: Punjab Kings owner and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has come out in public , rubbishing the media reports regarding her bringing in Rohit Sharma to her IPL franchise.

Rohit Sharma was replaced as skipper of Mumbai Indians by Hardik Pandya this season and since then rumours are doing rounds that 5 time IPL winning captain is going to leave Mumbai Indians. One such report quoted Preity Zinta saying that she will bring Sharma to Punjab.

Taking the matter to her X account, Zinta wrote that the articles are the “perfect” example of spreading misinformation.

“Fakenews All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured, makes these articles appear in very poor taste,” Zinta posted on X.

“These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of IPL2024 Thank you. PunjabKingsIPL.”

Earlier after the Punjab Kings lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 13, Zinta allegedly expressed her desire to have Sharma as her franchise’s skipper.

“I will bet my life to get Rohit Sharma if he comes in the mega auction. We are only missing a captain in our team who brings on some stability and champion mindset,” the Bollywood actor allegedly said.
