Adding another badge in their Mountaineering career, the top two mountaineers from Kashmir Nawab Moauzam Khan and Ghulam Mohammad Wani aka Gullu have successfully summitted Mount DKD peak in Uttarakhand.
The two climbers as part of their Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) Pre-Everest training camp on June 25 scaled 5700 mtr peak Mount Draupadi Ka Dhandaa 2 (DKD 2).
As per statement Nawab and Gullu made successful summit of 5700 mtr Mount DKD 2 peak on June 25 at 6:30 am.
“We made summit attempt directly from Advanced Base Camp (ABC) at 4200 mtr , which otherwise is attempted from Camp 1 at 5000 mtr,” said climbers.
“We are highly thankfull to J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club (JKMHC) President Mahmood Ahmad Shah for the continuous support and encouragement. Without his support and guidance we could not have been part of this camp and achieved this feat,” they said.
Both the climbers are part of IMF Pre-Everest training camp. IMF next season from Everest Base Camp is scheduled to launch expeditions to Mt Everest – 8848 Mtrs, Lhotse- 8516 Mtrs, Nuptse – 7861 Mtrs and Pumori – 7161 Mtrs.
Before the expeditions to these four peaks, IMF is holding Pre-Everest expedition camps for the shortlisted mountaineers. Nawab and Gullu are part of it.
