Srinagar: Morocco created history on Tuesday as they handed former champions and favorites Spain shock defeat to book place in the quater final of FIFA World Cup 2022 in Education City Stadium, Qatar.
Morocco keeper Yassine Bounou saved Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets’ penalty to guide his side to victory.
Bounou made two saves against Spain in regulation time on Tuesday and was a big reason why the match went to penalties.
Spain succumbed to Morocco in penalty shootout, failing to convert even a single spot kick . The match between them had gone into extra time on Tuesday with the sides locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes.
It is first time ever that African Nation has booked place in quaterfinal of the World Cup.
