Mohammed Shami terms Mitchell Marsh’s act of putting feet on World Cup trophy disrespectful

Srinagar: India’s pace ace Mohammad Shami has slammed Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for his disrespectful act of putting feet on World Cup trophy.

After Australia outplayed India in the Cricket World Cup 2023 final, the celebration pics of Australia team surfaced online. In one of the photographs, Mitchell Marsh is shown putting his feet on the World Cup trophy while enjoying on sofa.

Mohammed Shami, expressed his disappointment with Marsh’s actions.

“I feel upset. Placing a foot on the trophy, the one every team competes for, the trophy you dream of raising, that didn’t make me happy,” Mohammad Shami told reporters.

Shami reveales about his approach to assessing pitches.

“Usually, bowlers inspect the pitch upon reaching the ground. I avoid getting close to the wicket because you truly understand its behavior only when you start bowling. Why add unnecessary pressure? It’s better to stay simple, stay relaxed, and that’s when you’ll perform better,” he said in a chat with PUMA India.

Shami ended the World Cup 2023 campaign as the top wicket-taker, securing 24 wickets in just 7 matches, including three 5-wicket hauls and a 4-for in the tournament.
