Srinagar: Mohammad Siraj has been named as last minute replacement for the injured pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the Team India T20 squad for South Africa series.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Mohd. Siraj as replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa,” BCCI statement said.
“Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” it said.
Mohammad Siraj was not named a reserve player for India’s T20 World Cup squad, with selectors instead opting for Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar as the stand-by quicks for Australia. It remains unclear if Siraj will travel Down Under as a reserve should Bumrah be ruled out.
