Rizwan likely to replace Babar, Shan as Pakistan all format captain: Report

Srinagar: The seasoned wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan...

Mohammad Rizwan took advice from Saeed Anwar before arriving in India

Srinagar: Pakistan senior batter Mohammad Rizwan has said that he took advice from former legendary batter of Pakistan Saeed Anwar before arriving in India for the World Cup 2023.

“The playing conditions in cricket can be unpredictable, even within the course of a single match. Pitches may behave differently over time, so one must be prepared for all possibilities. Match practice is invaluable and distinct from net sessions,” Mohammad Rizwan said after match vs Netherlands.

“To prepare for Indian conditions, I had a conversation with Saeed Anwar before arriving here. He emphasized the need to adapt to India’s unique conditions. While Indian pitches are generally good, they can exhibit varying behaviors in a short span. Preparing for India is distinct from preparing for a tour to Australia, for example,” he added.

Pakistan won World Cup 2023 opener against the Netherlands, successfully defending their target of 287 runs and limiting the opponent to a total of 205 runs.

Mohammad Rizwan scored 68 runs from 75 deliveries which included eight boundaries, with a healthy strike-rate of 90.67.

Pakistan’s second match in the World Cup 2023 is scheduled against Sri Lanka on October 10th in Hyderabad.
