Srinagar: Former Australia pacer Mitchell Johnson has been fined for on his on-field spat with former India batter Yousuf Pathan during ongoing Legends League Cricket T20 in Jodhpur on Sunday.
The match was between India Capitals and Bhilwara Kings with former Australia-India duo involved in heated spat on mid pitch.
According to reports Legends League Cricket commissioner Ravi Shastri has decided to fine Mitchell Johnson after a disciplinary committee was formed by the tournament organisers to investigate the incident.
An official warning was also sent to Mitchell Johnson, who plays for India Capitals.
“We are here to promote serious and competitive cricket through this league. What happened yesterday on the ground during the qualifier match shouldn’t have happened. We have closely gone through the video multiple times before coming to any conclusion. I hope everyone gets a clear message that the spirit of the game is of prime importance and such things won’t get repeated in this league,” Raman Raheja, CEO and Co-Founder of Legends League Cricket was quoted as saying.
Johnson was involved in a verbal exchange with Yusuf Pathan with Australian fast bowler seen pushing the former India all-rounder away.
The two players were involved in a heated argument so much so that the umpires had to intervene and calm things down.
