Srinagar: Former India Cricketer and IPL side LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir has hit back at the famed TV anchor Rajat Sharma over Virat Kohli spat by taking a cheeky dig at the journalist.
Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Naveen ul Haq were involved in heated spat during IPL 2023 match between RCB and LSG. All the three cricketers were fined heavily by the management.
Gambhir took to Twitter on Wednesday and posted a cryptic tweet aimed at a former Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) President who had made comments slamming Gambhir over his feud with Kohli.
“Man who ran away from Delhi Cricket citing “pressure” seems over eager to sell paid PR as concern for cricket!,” said Gambhir. Yehi Kalyug Hei, Jahan Bhagode Apni Court Chalate Hai (This is Kalyug where ‘fugitives’ run their ‘court’,”) he added,” Gambhir Tweeted.
Gambhir and Kohli are no strangers to on-field spats, as the duo had a tussle during the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) when Gambhir was Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain. Gambhir and Kohli both played together for the Delhi Ranji Team as well as the Indian Cricket Team. Gambhir and Kohli were part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team.
Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has called for both Gambhir and Kohli to be banned instead of just being fined. “So, my point, do something which will make sure, these things don’t happen again. If it has to you know, like it happened with Harbhajan and Sreesanth 10 years ago, that you have to ask them to maybe step aside for a couple of matches. Make sure you do something that ensures that these things don’t happen and also something that will hurt the team. That’s a stiff one,”said Gavaskar.
Meanwhile Rajat Sharma in his programe had termed Gambhir as jealous person who is not disgusting Kohli’s popularity and fame.
