Srinagar: Once again proving themselves as the dominant side from the J&K football arena the J&K Bank Football Club on Thursday cruised its way into the final of the Climate Cup 2024 in Leh, Ladakh.
In the closely fought semifinal, J&K Bank FC clashed with ISL Side North East United (Reserves). The match turned out as highly entertaining with both sides making sure to give it out their best. Eventually the goal scored by a seasoned striker Aakif Reshi turned out as deciding factor. J&K Bank FC beat North East United (R) by 1-0 to qualify for the finals.
In the final, J&K Bank FC is going to clash with, two time I-League champions , Gokulam Kerala FC on Saturday. Aakif Reshi was awarded man of the match.
Earlier, J&K had defeated Ladakh FC by 4-0 in the quaterfinal.
J&K Bank side is led by highly experienced former footballers turned coaches Shahnaz Iqbal and Manzoor Dar.
“Team is happy to make it to the final after having fought against North East United FC. It is going to be bigger challenge against Gokulam but we are confident,” said a player.
