Kashmir’s top long distance runner, Insha Wadoo has bagged second position in the recently held Jammu Marathon. The event was organised by CII and J&K State Council in collaboration with Board of Development for Sports in India (BDSI)
In the event teams from BSF, CRPF, IRP, JKP, Forest Department and IRP also took part. In the female category, Dolma emerged as winner while Insha Wadoo secured the second position.
Insha has been dominating the long distance running events in the state from past four years. Apart from winning various private events, she won Inter-college road race for four consecutive years from 2012 to 2014.
Insha, who hails from Rainawari area of Srinagar, started her athletic career in 2011 and never looked back. During her stint at Women’s College MA Road she bagged college best sports persons of the year award three consecutive times. She also bagged third place in the 92.7 Big FM International marathon held in Srinagar last year.
Insha recently was the sole female athlete from state to run alongwith ultra marathon runner Pat Farmer from Banihal to Srinagar. She has also represented State in various national level events. “I am happy to take part and earn second place in the event which involved some of the top athletes of the country,” Insha said.
“Despite being top athlete in state from last several years I have got no support from Government. Whatever I have achieved I have done it on my own,” she added. (Source Greater Kashmir)
