Kashmir pacer Samiullah Dar joins KKR as net bowler for IPL 2024

Srinagar: Overlooked by JKCA over the years, the Kashmir pacer Samiullah Dar once again has got the chance to be part of IPL 2024 as net bowler with Kolkatta Knight Riders.

The Srinagar based tall pacer, Samiullah has over the years been associated with various Franchisee and International teams as net bowler. Last year also he was associated with KKR as net bowler and then went on to be associated with England cricket team as net bowler during their World Cup 2023 campaign in India.
Samiullah joined the pre camp with KKR on Thursday and was part of training session on Friday.
Apart from Samiullah, J&K all-rounder Nasir Lone is assciated with Sunrisers Hyderabad as net bowler this season. There is a chance that few more may join franchisee sides as net bowler from J&K.

The right-arm pacer was among the highest wicket-takers in JKCA’s Domestic One-Day Tourney at Srinagar last year but hasn’t represented the state at any level yet.

“For any young bowler, to get an opportunity to be associated with teams as net bowler is big deal. It is a golden chance to learn from the best and be in the best crcketing environment,” said a former player.

“Samiullah is talented pacer and he should have represented J&K long back. However, that has not happened yet but still he is getting opportunities like these outside J&K,” he added.
