Jammu and Kashmir pacer Yudhvir Singh has been called to join Team India as a reserve bowler for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, which begins on September 19 in Chennai.
Yudhvir is a tall pacer who bowls in high 140kmph and has been part of Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Supergiants in the IPL. He has been a consistent part of the J&K team across all three formats in the last few years.
He bowled decently for J&K in the recent Buchi Babu multi-day tournament, hence attracting the national selection panel led by Ajit Agarkar.
“He received a call yesterday and was asked to report to Chennai on 12th September. It is great news for him– a stepping stone to make it to the Indian team,” a source close to Yudhvir told KSW.
Born in Jammu, Yudhvir initially played for the J&K U-23 team before moving to Hyderabad. Then after a couple of seasons with Hyderabad, the right-arm pacer returned to his home state and has since been a regular part of the team.
Apart from his pacey bowling, he can also hit those big sixes with the bat.
