International cricketer Parvez Rasool along with Director Education Dr. Shah Faisal and Director Tourism Mahmood Ahmad Shah unveiled the trophy of upcoming J&K Corporate League 2016 at Islamia College Ground, Hawal here.
To unveil the trophy and the give kick start to the league, organizers had organized a concept match between Star-XI and JKCL Local-XI. Before the match started and trophy of the event was unveiled guests Parvez Rasool, Dr. Shah Faisal and Mahmood Ahmad Shah were introduced with players who included some of the known names of JK cricket.
Speaking on the occasion Parvez hailed organizers for coming up with the event for the players that will keep them involved with the game. However, he also requested organizers to stay away from organizing any event during Month of Ramadhan.
“It is great to see event of this magnitude being organized. However, at the same time I would request organizers to stay away from organizing such events during Ramadhan time. It is not as such that our calendar remains packed we can’t stay wait for this month to pass on,” he said.
Dr. Shah Faisal while speaking on the occasion said that these type of event should be organized on regular basis.
“I believe that events like this should be organized on regular basis. This is big event and I wish all the success to its organizers. Moreover, our doors are open for the help in organizing of any kind of sports activity,” Dr Faisal said.
Mahmood Shah said that Islamia College is known for its sports activities and helping players and organizers.
“Apart from studies, it is sports that keep name of this college shining. Most of belong to this old city and have been part of this college. Over the years it has created name for itself in the sports arena. Every sports lover knows that Islamia College is hub of sports activities,” he said.
Later guests unveiled the trophy of the event and then went on to be part of the ceremonial toss between the two teams.
Among others present on the occasion were Chairman Ghani Gliders Tariq Ghani, Director Physical Education and Sports Islamia College Altaf ur Rehman.
