Jammu: Abhinav Puri and Shubham Khajuria showed serenity and composure against speed sensation Umran and company to take JKCA A1 to a formidable score of 233/2 on day-1 of the ongoing Senior Men’s Multi-Day Tournament at Jammu.
Talented Kanhaiya Wadhawan, explosive Suryansh Raina and off-spinner Marutwan also showed promise.
At Jammu University ground, winning the toss and batting first after a delayed start due to wet outfield, JKCA A1 rode on a big opening partnership of over 150 runs between skipper Shubham Khajuria (87) and Abhinav Puri (93) to reach 233/2 in 50 overs at stumps.
The duo negotiated Umran and company beautifully. Rohan Koul also scored unbeaten 36 runs. For JKCA A3, leg-spinner Abhay Tandon though expensive took both the wickets to fall by conceding 72 runs.
At Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, batting first, JKCA A2 scored 179 runs in 45.4 overs. Kanhaiya Wadhawan top scored with 49 runs, while Suryansh Raina and Ankush Sharma contributed 43 and 30 runs to the total respectively.
For JKCA A5, Marutwan was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets by conceding 47 runs in his 4 overs, while Sunil Kumar and Aman Sharma bagged 2 wickets each.
