JKCA announces squad for Col CK Nayudu Trophy (U-25)

Srinagar, March 17: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Thursday announced a 19-member squad for upcoming Col CK Nayudu Trophy (U-25)

The squad is same as reported by KSW on March 15 with Shubham Pundir named captain of the team.

In a press release issued on Thursday by JKCA, it has been informed that 19-member squad led by Shubham Pundir has left for Delhi to participate in this four-day formatted tournament.

Brig. Anil Gupta (Retd.), Member Administration, JKCA, has stated that in view of the covid threat and limited window left for the current season 2021-22, the format of the tournament has been changed. The teams have been divided into 8 Elite groups of 4 teams each and one Plate group of 5 teams.

The tournament will be conducted from March 17, 2022 to May 01, 2022. J&K has been placed in Elite group ‘H’ along with Punjab, Bengal and Tripura and will play its league matches at Delhi.

J&K will play Bengal in its first league match beginning on 22 March, 2022 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, Delhi.

Mr. Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs, JKCA, further explained that after the league phase which will end on 08 April, 2022, 8 top placed teams of each Elite group will qualify for knockout stage.

The knockout stage will be held at Bengaluru from 09 April, 2022 to 01 May, 2022. The team was bid farewell by the Sub-Committee members and the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

The team is also accompanied by support staff which includes Mr. Sarabjeet Singh (Head Coach), Mr. Hilal Ahmad (Manager), Mr. Veemarsh Kaw (Asst. Manager), Mr. Gurupartap Singh (Trainer), Mr. Huwaid Hamid (Fielding Coach), Mr. Shafqat Malik (Bowling Coach), Mr. Hassib Rehman (Physiotherapist), Mr. Sahil Magotra (Video Analyst) and Mr. Ankit Kumar (Massage Therapist).
