J&K Wushu stars Surya Bhanu, Kuldeep Handoo leave for 19th Asian Games- Hangzhou, China

Srinagar: Prominent faces of J&K sports and Indian Wushu arena, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh and Coach Kuldeep Handoo on Wednesday left from Delhi for the participation in  19th Asian Games being held in Hangzhou, China from 23rd September to 8th October 2023.

Surya Bhanu Partap Singh is Bronze medalist in the 18th Asian Games and Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) is the National Chief Coach of India 

Both the Player and coach were in the National Wushu coaching camp from last one year which was being organised by Sports Authority of India and Wushu Association of India, the major portion of the National Coaching camp was held at SKISC Srinagar.

The last phase of the camp was held at NSNIS Patiala with  DG SAI Sandeep Pradhan sending off the team on the concluding day of the camp.

The Wushu event will be held from 24th September to 28th September 2023, Surya Bhanu Partap singh is the lone medalist in the Asian Games so far.

Wushu has so far 09 medals in the Asian Games since 2006. 

The other members participating in the games are Sunil singh, Vikrant Baliyan, Suraj Yadav, Roshibina Devi, Anjul Namdeo,Rohit Yadav, Nyeman Wangsu, Suraj singh. Rajesh Kumar Tailor (Coach) Ravi Prakash Tripathi (Coach) and Ananya Mandal (Physio).

Comissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafeez and Nuzhat Gul Secretary Sports Council have congratulated both the participants and wished them best of luck for the event.

Both the participants are the employees of J&K Police.
