J&K stars Samad, Vivrant miss out as India squad for 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 announced 

Srinagar: BCCI on Friday announced the young India squad for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 to be held from September 19 to October 8.

The squad has some new faces and most of the squad is filled with youngsters who aren’t part of main Team India squad. While J&ak’s current India player Umran Malik is part of India team for the West Indies tour one was hoping for the inclusion of likes of Abdul Samad and Vivrant Sharma in the squad.

Samad has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL and Vivrant Sharma this season made his IPL debut for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. These were the closer ones who could have made this squad apart from the likes of Abid Mushtaq, Aquib Nabi who had performed in domestic circuit.  

“The Men’s Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 to be held from 19th September to 8th October 2023 at Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. The men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format,” BCCI statement said.

Team India (Senior Men) squad for 19th Asian Games: Ruturaj Gaikwad (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dube, Prabhsimran Singh (wk).

Standby list of players: Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Sai Sudarsan.
