
The twin finals of provincial level inter district cricket tournament now renamed Jehangeer Memorial Cricket Tournament Under-19 and Under 17 boys where played at Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School Bijbehara on July 14.
District Anantnag and District Srinagar emerged as winners in Under-19 and 17 categories respectivley. In Under 19 years age group District Anantnag defeated District Ganderbal by 30 runs where as Srinagar defeated district Anantnag in under 17 boys by four wickets.
The main highlights of the match were that in U.19 Boys Yawar and Talha Ashraf scored 53 and 45 not out respectively.
In U.17 Boys the main scorer’s from District Srinagar were Faisal who scored 35 runs and Furqan made 30 runs.

In the same catagory from Anantnag side Sadat and Musharaf scored 36 runs each.
The provincial level Inter District Cricket Competition was inaugurated on 10th of July,2019 at the same venue by the Honble Advisors namely Khursheed Ahmad Ganie and Sh.K.Vijay Kumar in presence of DG Sports Dr.Saleem ur Rehman .
Around 320 players from 10 Districts of Kashmir Division participated. The closing cum prize distribution function was held at HSS Bijbehara Ground where International Cricketer Mr. Parvez Rasool was the Chief Guest on the occasion who distributed the trophies among the Winners and Runners up teams in presence of District Youth Services & Sports Officer , Technical Officials, Convenors and members of Activity section. Last but not least rich tributes were paid to the slain Cricketer. Jehangeer Ahmad who lost his life during the competition while batting and it was prayed that May Allah Grant him Highest Place in Jannah.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer thanked District Administration Anantnag, Health Services Department who stood by the department at the time of Greif and provided all sort of assistance whatever was required at the venues and particularly on the day the tragedy occurred.He also extended its gratitude to Information Department Persons affiliated with print and electronic media for wide coverage of the Tourney and thanked Cricket association Bijbehara, Nanil, Anantnag, Mattan for providing logistics in conducting the competition and also local people of Nanil, Mattan, Anantnag and Wanpoh who stood by the players at the time of grief.
