Abid Nabi, one of J&K’s prominent cricketers, has agreed with the former Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey’s statement on Umran Malik.
Paras recently said that Umran Malik is playing for the wrong state, which is stopping him from achieving glory.
“He needs to play for a state which has proper structure. Unfortunately, he is playing for a state where there is no proper structure. Playing for a state with a proper structure, playing a lot of cricket will definitely help him,” he said.
Abid remarked that he had been saying the same thing for a long time. Being himself a fast bowler who once rose to the limelight for clocking 150kmph, he said JKCA is probably the worst cricket association in India.
“Our infrastructure has only gone worse in the years. Whoever heads JKCA only fills their own pockets and does nothing for the development of cricket,” he said.
Abid said Umran Malik is an asset but JKCA will do nothing for his betterment.
“If he was playing for some other state, he would have been a regular member of team India. But since JKCA doesn’t care anything about cricketers, he will only suffer,” he added.
Paras also wished that Umran would switch the state and take his talent to the task.
“We need someone to make that call for him and make sure that he plays for a state where he plays a lot of cricket. He has the potential, a quick guy who can bowl in the mid-140s. consistently, but someone to guide him at this stage and saying, okay, fine, just play cricket and how do we take this, take his game forward,” Mhambrey told Sportstar.
