J&K Ranji trophy team captain, Parvez Rasool on Sunday blamed both batting and bowling for J&K’s loss to Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy match.
J&K on Saturday suffered 6-wicket defeat against Uttar Pradesh at Jammu after having gained first innings lead. It is shocking for any team to lose a match after getting first inning lead of around 102 runs. While in the first inning J&K batting was lead by Irfan Pathan’s 91 and Parvez Rasool’s 87 to 290 run total in second inning, it collapsed for 111 run total. In first inning bowling J&K bundled out Uttar Pradesh for 188 run total but in second inning they were given no chance by Suresh Raina lead Uttar Pradesh batting.
“It was total batting failure and bowlers were also not able to do their job perfectly. We also have to look into the reasons – what went wrong – as it is not every day that you will get first inning lead and go on to lose the match,” Parvez Rasool said.
“My message to all the players in team is that they are special and they need to perform upto their abilities. They should have the confidence that they can win game for J&K on their own. This belief can help them deliver for the team,” he said.
About any changes in team for the upcoming matches, he said, “I can’t say anything about that as it is job of the selectors to decide on that. They will meet and decide it”.
As per sources in JKCA, a number of changes are likely to be done in J&K Ranji trophy team owing to continuous failure of some of the players in the squad.
