Srinagar: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been in news lately for being thrown out of IPL 2025 commentary panel owing to complaints by some players about his “undue” criticism of them.
After not getting IPL commentary contract this time, Pathan started his Youtube channel and is giving out his opinions on the channel these days.
However, on his X handle, Irfan Pathan while praising Karun Nair for his stunning knock vs Mumbai Indians, took indirect dig against at Virat Kohli.
“Karun Nair is showing all of us why playing domestic cricket & current form is so so important,” Irfan Pathan tweeted, a clear dig that seems at Virat Kohli.
Karun Nair scored his first IPL fifty in 7 years notching up 89 in 40 balls for Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians in an IPL 2025 match in New Delhi on Sunday.
Irfan Pathan was thrown out of IPL 2025 for his reportedly his comments about Virat Kohli. “In 2024, in the first innings where the game is set up, Virat Kohli averages just 15. If we take out his numbers in the last five years, he doesn’t even average 30. Is this what the Indian team deserves from his senior player?” Irfan Pathan had said about Virat Kohli during the Border Gavaskar Trophy on Star Sports.
Irfan Pathan had also targeted Virat Kohli’s absence from domestic cricket. “India don’t need superstar culture, they need team culture. Tell me the last time when Virat Kohli played domestic cricket when he was free? When was the last time it happened? It has almost been a decade,” Irfan Pathan had said on Star Sports.
