Srinagar, November 29: Sunrisers Hyderabad is likely to retain J&K cricketer, Abdul Samad, ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction.

The franchise will certainly retain Afghanistan spin maestro Rashid Khan. They are also likely to retain captain Kane Williamson.

Abdul Samad, a right-handed hard-hitting, is expected to be their third retention, as per ESPNcricinfo and several other media reports.

Samad played a few cameos during last two seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, he couldn’t leave much of an impression in most of the matches. Although considering his skills of hitting the long ball from the word go, Hyderabad might continue with him.

At now, they could get him at uncapped price cap of 4 crore. With a lot of teams looking for batters like him, it might be tough to get him in auction at an amount as low as this.

There are whispers about Umran Malik, another J&K cricketer, also being considered for retention by Sunrisers, however, whether the franchise has locked him or not is unconfirmed.

Tuesday, November 30, is the last date to submit the list of retained players, after which a mega auction will take place.
