IPL 2023:Sharukh Khan was confident to finish target in last over

Srinagar: Punjab Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants in last over thriller of IPL 2023 pn Saturday with youngster Sharukh Khan hitting winning runs.

LSG posted a total of 159 in their 20 overs on the back of KL Rahul’s 74. The chase for PBKS wasn’t a straightforward one as they lost a couple of early wickets.

The scoring rate wasn’t high at one point before Sikandar Raza decided to turn up the hit and started scoring freely to get to his maiden IPL fifty. But Raza’s wicket meant that the onus was on Shahrukh to finish off the game for PBKS.

Khan scored 23 off just 10 balls to seal the game in the final over of the match and got PBKS the two-wicket win with just three balls to spare.

Speaking after the match, Shahrukh said that it was important to play a par game in the run chase and praised Raza for setting up the game for him.

“Really feeling good, after the first innings, it was important to play a par game (in the chase). Raza played superbly and set it up for me. My mindset was just to stay with the ball, the practice is working out to me,” said Shahrukh Khan.

“I’m powerful, cheeky shots don’t work for me, so I try to hit straight and it’s good to use my muscles. I just told Brar to go for the big hit since it was the last (5th) ball of the over, unfortunately he got out, but I was confident I could finish in the last over.”
