Srinagar: Former India skipper Eoin Morgan has expressed his disbelief over Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson not been part of Team India.
Samson scored 55 runs off 32 balls with three fours and four sixes against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The RR skipper was one of the three batters, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, to score fifties. On the back of his knock, the Royals posted a mammoth target of 204 for the Orange Army to chase down, after which they went on to eventually win the match by 72 runs.
“It’s hard to believe that he does not play more international cricket when he plays with ease and as well as this. The time he has and the power that he generates from shots of the backfoot like that are incredible,” Morgan was quoted as saying on Jio Cinema.
Morgan was also impressed with how Samson attacked Adil Rashid. In the 11th and 16th over, Samson smashed Rashid for two sixes, one through deep mid-wicket and the other through long off.
“They are not many people that play shots like that to Adil Rashid like that throughout the world. He is a difficult bowler to pick, let alone play and attack. What a way to start the tournament, Sanju Samson. Getting out of the blocks earlier, scoring runs early in the tournament, we have seen this before, can he maintain that? Only time will tell,” he added.
