Srinagar: Pakistan newly appointed Test team captain Shaan Masood had a injury scare after in match collision with teamate Sarfaraz Ahmed during Pakistan Cup 2023-24 match between Karachi Whites and Multan at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
As Multan were chasing 281 target vs Karachi, incident happened in the 9th over which involved Shaan Masood and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
At the 8.2 overs mark, with Multan at 34/2, Sohaib Maqsood struck the ball high into the air. Both Masood and Sarfaraz sprinted to claim the catch, resulting in a severe collision.
While Sarfaraz managed to get back on his feet after the collision, Masood appeared to be in considerable discomfort, clutching his ankle in pain. Masood walked off the field, leaving everyone concerned about the severity of his injury.
The collision between the two players halted the game as medical assistance was brought onto the field to attend to Masood’s injury. Prior to the incident Masood had scored quick-fire 41 runs off just 38 balls during the first innings.
Masood was on Wednesday appointed as the Test captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. His first assignment as captain will be a three-match Test series against Australia in Australia starting from 14 December, 2023.
