India beats Pakistan to lift World Championship of Legends 2024

Birmingham, July 13, 2024: In a riveting finale of the World Championship of Legends 2024, India secured a five-wicket victory over Pakistan, chasing down the target of 157 runs with just five balls to spare. The match, held in Birmingham, showcased a stunning performance from Ambati Rayudu, whose quickfire half-century was instrumental in India’s successful chase.

India’s chase of 157 got off to a steady start, but it was Rayudu’s 50 off 30 balls that provided the crucial momentum. His innings included a flurry of boundaries and smart running between the wickets, effectively anchoring the middle-order partnership that saw India home at 159/5 in 19.1 overs. Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir posed a significant threat, picking up three key wickets, but his efforts were in vain as India’s batsmen held their nerve.

Pakistan, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, posted a competitive 156/6 in their 20 overs. Shoaib Malik was the top scorer with 41 runs, exhibiting his experience and class. Contributions from the middle order helped Pakistan set a challenging target. However, India’s bowling unit, led by Anureet Singh, ensured that the total remained within reach. Singh’s impressive spell saw him take three crucial wickets, supported by Vinay Kumar, Pawan Negi, and Irfan Pathan, who each claimed a wicket.

The match was a testament to the enduring rivalry and sportsmanship between the two nations, with both teams displaying a high level of skill and determination. The victory marked a significant achievement for India in the World Championship of Legends, bringing joy to fans and players alike.
