Imran Haroon, a talent wrecked and ravaged!

16haroonImran Haroon has been playing cricket since he was 7. Left his studies halfway and chose a BAT  over a pen. He got an opportunity in London, visa and all formalities taken care of but again, he chose a BAT over a feasible thriving carrier.
He tries his best every year to make it to Ranji, scores, gets applauded, scores again, gets commended but then at the very last moment gets shown a red flag. He has been proving himself in every format of the game but gets put off under the pretext  ” you are made for test matches”. Tests arrive gets put off under the pretext ” you are a one day player”. Then there comes a long-awaited time, he gets selected but gets sent back to Srinagar from Jammu.
Players from Jammu gets appreciation and cash rewards for their good performances. We certainly are not against it and firmly believe that our players should get motivated and recognized for their accomplishments or else how would we make our state proud, however, Imran happens to be the only player of our state to have scored a century in his debut match against Bengal and he did not even get a call from JKCA to congratulate him on his achievement and making the entire state proud.imranharoonpti-m
He was nominated as the best batsmen by JK sports Council in 2017. The same year he bags the man of the series award in Wullar Premier league (Sopore). He later gets an opportunity to play in Dubai and proves his mettle there too.
With all being said, Imran is now in his 30’s, a mid-aged man. Now, who is responsible for tearing down his carrier? Who is to be blamed?
Here are some of his carrier testimonials :
  • Under 17, in 2006, played 3 matches and scored 245 with an average of 81 runs.
  • Under 19, in 2007, played 8 matches and scored 465 runs with an average of 58 runs.
  • Under 22, in 2009, played 5 matches and scored 285 runs with an average of 57 runs.
  • Under 25, in 2012, played 2 matches and scored 260 runs with an average of 130 runs. It was in this tournament that he scored 177* runs in one inning, a record in the history of J&K cricket which was applauded across all sections of society.

After a successful age-group career, he was given late chance in 2015 Ranji trophy, where he became the only player of the state to score a Ton in the debut match.
Despite all his remarkable and jaw-dropping performances, he is being made to sit back and wait while he see’s players with influence and political background making their place in the team.
He does not want his family to talk to JKCA out of fear that they may exempt him from the upcoming trials. He is tenacious and doesn’t want to give up either.
Ayan Haroon is the elder brother of Imran Haroon.
