Srinagar, May 19: Replying to recent comments, suggesting he should learn speaking English well, Pakistan’s new ODI captain said he is a cricketer and not a gora (Englishman).
Former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed had suggested Babar to improve his English-speaking skills and overall personality as he takes charge of the ODI captaincy.
“Babar Azam also needs to improve his English, which is necessary. Whenever someone becomes a captain, he has to talk during the toss and post-match presentation. Plus, he will also give interviews on various channels when he tours different countries,” Tanvir had said.
Responding to this mark, Babar in a video, widely circulated on social media, said, “I’m a cricketer, my job is to play cricket. I am not a ‘gora,’ who knows English completely.”
Several Pakistan players, including ex skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, have been criticised for their English in the past.
