If Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) is to be believed the top sports governing body of the State, is likely to recommend the name of 7-year old World Kick Boxing champion Tajam-ul-Islam for State Award 2017.
If the Sports Council recommends her name for the State Award it would be irony as their too many top stars who are yet to be honored. Moreover , being unofficial, un-recognized event that too in lowest age category doesn’t qualify it for the such an award.
Instead of encouraging the talented kid towards right path in the sports all the stakeholders, Council, Sports Ministry, home Ministry, Army and other establishment busy in earning mileage out of her feat. They may give her State Award and then forget, leaving her to fetch her path for greater success alone. instead of fake, lame praises this kid needs right guidance and for that a dedicated, sincere sports persons should come forward.
Tajam-ul-Islam last week won gold medal for India in the World Kick Boxing Championship of Under-8 category in Italy’s Andria. She defeated her rival from the US to become the world champion in the kick boxing championship. She is first such player to achieve the feat from Kashmir.
In 2015, Islam won the national recognition after bagging the gold medal in sub-junior category National Kickboxing Championship in New Delhi.
A resident of Tarkpora village in Bandiora district, 65 km from Srinagar, Tajamul is a student of the Army Goodwill School. Islam’s brother and two sisters also practice kickboxing.
While appreciating the talent, Jammu and Kashmir Stated Sports Council is likely to recommend Islam’s name to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for State Award.
