Srinagar, Nov 29: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) and Gokulam Kerala FC battled to a 1-1 draw in their I-League clash on Friday at the jam-packed TRC Ground in Srinagar.
Backed by an enthusiastic home crowd, RKFC set the tone early. Just two minutes into the game, a long throw from Mohammad Aqib found Cameroonian defender Bouba Aminou, who rose high to deliver a glancing back-header, putting the hosts ahead. Aminou, a former Gokulam player who spent three seasons with the Kerala side, celebrated the goal against his old club.
Despite dominating the first half and creating multiple chances to extend their lead, RKFC failed to capitalize. Senegalese striker Karim Samb missed critical opportunities, including an open header and a one-on-one with Gokulam’s goalkeeper.
In the second half, Gokulam gradually gained control, showcasing slick passing but struggling in the final third. However, in the 76th minute, an aerial delivery proved to be Real Kashmir’s undoing. A free kick from the left found its way through a crowded defense, and Athul Unnikrishnan calmly slotted it home to equalize. The goal marked Gokulam’s first in four I-League trips to Srinagar.
The match concluded with both teams sharing the spoils.
J&K Secretary Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafeez graced the occasion as the chief guest, receiving a warm welcome from RKFC owner Arshad Shawl, who also felicitated Gokulam Kerala FC owner Praveen.
Arshad Shawl expressed gratitude to the home fans for their vibrant support and thanked the administration and RKFC staff for their efforts in organizing the event.
Real Kashmir FC, the only club from Jammu and Kashmir in the I-League, will play their next match at the TRC Ground on December 3.
