Srinagar: In the absence of snow in main bowl of ski resort Gulmarg, the Gulmarg Snow School conducted seasons first ski course at Botapathri, Gulmarg.
The lack of snow has badly impacted the ski season in Gulmarg with most of the skiing courses and bookings getting cancelled. However, Gulmarg Snow School improvised by conducting basic level ski course for the outside J&K students at Botapathri which had received some sort of snow for basic ski training.
In the course that started on December 28 and concluded on January 5, around 39 students from various parts of Country participated.
On the concluding, examination of the trainees was held in which Burhuddin Dholakwala, Qaizer Rangoonwala and Burhuddin Rashid bagged first three positions respectively.
“We were forced to cancel bookings of inter-mediate and advance level courses. However, we decided to go ahead with basic course at Botapathri which had some snow acumulation to hold such level of basic training course,” said Tariq Zargar Gulmarg Snow School official.
