Goverment reconstitutes Sports Council, Ranjeet Kalra, Kabra Altaf members

Srinagar: J&K Government has given its nod to reconstitution of J&K Sports Council body with noted ace administrator Ranjeet Kalra and National Judo medalist Kabra Altaf amoung the members appointed.

The reconstitution of Sports Council body was pending from long. J&K Sports Council had submitted its list of members to be included in the body to the Lieutenant Governor office. The proposal was finally ratified by the LG Manoj Sinha and on June 23 , Principal Secretary Youth Services and Sports Alok Kumar issued an order for the formation of the body.
The new sports council body will have seven Ex officio members and eight members ( previously 16).


Lieutenant Governor or Chief Minister would be its President while as Advisor or Minister Incharge would be Vice President. The other Ex officio members will be Adminstrative Secretary Finance dept,
Adminstrative Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring,

Adminstrative Secretary Youth Services and Sports, DG Sports DYSS and Secretary Sports Council.
As per Goverment Order No.No 21-JK (YSS) of 2022 Dated 23-6-2022 signed by Alok Kumar the eight members included from sports background are.


International Wushu medallist Bhanu Pratap Singh, International Volleyball player Saqlain Tariq, International Handball player Nitin Kumar, National Judo player Shweta Thakur, National Judo player Kabra Altaf, former cricketer and ace sports administrator of J&K Ranjeet Kalra, President Hockey J&K Rajeev Sharma and National Cyclist Akber Khan.


The new council has been formed for the period of three years.
