GOAT Novak Djokovic claims record 23rd Grand Slam title with French Open win

Srinagar: Serbian Tennis Legend Novak Djokovic has lifted the 23rd Grand Slam Tennis title by defeating Casper Ruud 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the final of the French Open 2023 on Sunday in Paris.

By securing 23rd Grand Slam, Djokovic has jumped ahead of Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slams titles in men’s tennis history.

Djokovic’s 23 Grand Slam titles consist of 10x Australian Open, 7x Wimbledon, 3x US Open and 3x Roland Garros.

With the title, the 36-year-old will also reclaim the No. 1 ranking which he lost to Carlos Alcaraz after the Spaniard won the Madrid Open last month.

Rafael Nadal also congratulated the Serbian on this remarkable feat of 23 Grand Slam titles.

“Many congrats on this amazing achievement @DjokerNole. 23 is a number that just a few years back was impossible to think about, and you made it! Enjoy it with your family and team!” Nadal tweeted.

Djokovic won the French Open for the third time as he becomes the oldest winner in the tournament’s history at 36 years and 20 days. He is also the only player in men’s history to win all four majors on at least three occasions.

“Obviously a Grand Slam is a Grand Slam,” said Djokovic at the trophy ceremony. “The four biggest tournaments that we have in our sport. Every single player dreams of being on this stage and winning the trophy at least once in their career. I’m beyond fortunate in my life to win 23 times, it’s an incredible feeling.”
