Srinagar: Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne registered a rare feat during first ODI vs England which is first in Cricket history.
In the first ODI win by Australia vs England opener Travis Head hogged all the limelight owing to his explosive batting. However, Labuschagne entered history books with his unique and unbelievable record, the first for any player ever.
Marnus Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 77 off 61 balls against England in the first ODI on Thursday (Sep 19), hitting seven fours and two sixes, as Australia chased 316 with seven wickets left.
The right-handed batter, who also bowls part-time leg-spin, picked three wickets during the first innings, in addition to grabbing four catches, thus becoming the first cricketer ever to score 50 plus runs, pick up three wickets and take four catches in one game.
Captain Marsh also spoke about Marnus’ spell, for which he took the credit.
“I’d love to take credit for it [Marnus bowling]. Was a forced changed, the longer their innings went on we felt pace off was the better option. I thought the way we bowled, especially our part-timers, was fantastic,” he said.
