While expressing disappointment over recently announced Under-23 cricket squad, players and senior pros on Friday said that selectors have yet again opted favoritism over talent.
J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) on Tuesday announced a 15-man U-23 squad for upcoming CK Nayudu and players seem quite unhappy with the selection as some talented players have been left out of the team while as few blue-eyed candidates have been included.
“It’s so disappointing to see selectors opting favoritism over talent. They are simply playing with our careers,” a player told KSW.
Players also blamed the administrators for continuing with same set of selectors despite their failed outcomes,
“Why JKCA have set the same selectors for all the age-groups? They earlier selected U-19 and U-16 teams whose results are in front of us,” another player said
Meanwhile, a senior cricketer also lashed out at selection committee and called it “open nepotism”,
“It’s really unfortunate to see these people destroying the budding talent of the State. When players like Muneeb Munaf, Nasir Lone and Umar Lone, Moomin Mansoor who have done extremely well in recent past are missing from team, what can one expect. It’s clear nepotism,” he said.
