Fastest bowler in IPL was sitting on bench, felt disappointed: Umran Malik breaks silence on SRH exit

Srinagar: Tearaway India and J&K pacer Umran Malik has first time reactes to his exit from Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL Layers Auction 2025.

Umran Malik alongwith teammate Abdul Samad were released by Sunrisers Hyderabad and would be up for grabs in IPL Players Auction.

Umran Malik who is fastest Indian pacer has said that he was disappointed being kept on bench during IPL 2024 by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“Of course, I would feel disappointed if I have to sit on the bench, league ka sabse tez bowler hoga aur wo bench par baethaega toh disappointment toh feel hoga hi, but when I return, I’ll give my 100% and deliver wickets for my team,” Umran Malik told TimesofIndia.com.

“Franchise, management and the coaches made their decisions because we were winning. It’s fine… they did what they thought was best,” Malik said.

After warming the bench, the hamstring injury and bout with dengue hampered Malik’s also missed to be part Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for J&K due to injury but has said that he is working hard to make comeback.

“I’ve been working on slower balls, good yorkers, and improving my variations. I can’t share everything, but I’ve focused a lot on honing my variations,” reveals Malik.

When asked about the competition with Mayank Yadav, Malik said, “Competition kyu karna hai kisi se, My goal is to play cricket, not to compete. He will play, and so will I, for India. It’ll feel great if Mayank and I play together for India”.
