Far-flung area players suffer as JKCA ‘refuses’ to provide accommodation

Players residing at far-flung places on Monday claimed that they are facing several problems with travelling on daily basis in the Under-19 selection camp which is underway at SK Stadium, Srinagar while JKCA pays no attention.

A few days back, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association started the selection camp for Under-19 category players, wherein shortlisted players from North-South zones and Srinagar are taking part.

The camp is on since Saturday and players from far-away places like Pulwama, Bandipora, Kulgam etc have been suffering while dealing with the schedule,

“We leave at 7 in the morning and reach till 10, while in the evening, the problem harshens as we reach home by 8,” a player from a village of Bandipora said.

“It’s really hard for us to travel that long twice a day especially when you have to continue it for days. It not only weakens you physically and mentally but affects one’s game as well,” another player from Pulwama said.

Though, JKCA has arranged the accommodation for few players of Kupwara, while left most of the other far-flung area players.

On contacting JKCA, players didn’t receive any positive response,

“We addressed our pleas to the officials of JKCA, however, they neglected the issue by saying it’s a matter of just a few more days,” a player said.
