Ex-England opener makes sensational Babar Azam claim after Chopra’s ‘Virat Kohli not in Fab 4’ comment

Srinagar: Former England opener turned commentator Nick Knight has made a sensational Babar Azam claim in reaction to former India opener Aakash Chopra’s comment over Virat Kohli not in Fab-4 now.

The cricketer turned commentator Chopra caused a bit of a flutter online by stating that Virat Kohli can no longer be considered in the same level as the rest of the Fab 4.

“Kane and Joe Root, no question about it. Steve Smith, averaging 50 with six hundreds, no question about him. But David Warner and Virat Kohli, at this point of time, they are not a part of Fab 4. There’s no Fab 4 right now, there’s Fab 3,” Chopra said on his official YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli’s form, particularly in Test cricket, has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now. The former India captain’s average has plummeted since 2019. In his last 25 matches, Kohli has scored just 1277 runs at an average of an average of 29.69 and has scored just one century in this period.

Chopra’s proclamation sparked an intense debate on Twitter and some asked if Pakistan captain Babar Azam can replace Kohli in that slot.

“You might think of adding Babar Azam’s name in there. But while there’s no doubt that he has scored runs in Test cricket, I don’t think he is part of Fab 4 at the moment. I’m only talking about Test matches here,” Chopra said.

However, noe former England opener Nick Knight  has sharply reacted to Chopra’s comment and made a sensational claim regarding Pakistan captain.

“Fab One at the moment in world cricket,” Nick Knight said about Babar.

Babar has consistently been rated among the best Test batters in the world since he made his debut in October 2016. In 47 matches, Babar has scored 3696 runs at an average of 48.63 with nine centuries and 26 fifties.
