With no final possible to be played on Tuesday due to ‘volatile situation’ in Kashmir valley organisers of the Kashmir Invitation Cup-2018 declared Real Kashmir FC and Minerwa Punjab FC as joint winners.
The final of the event that was largely hit by the prevailing volatile situation in Kashmir from its first day, was scheduled to be played on Tuesday. However, it couldn’t be held due to prevailing situation in Kashmir.
It was hence decided by the organizers J&K State Sports Council and J&K Football Association to declare both finalists Minerva Punjab FC and Real Kashmir FC as joint winners of the tournament.
“Owing to their opening I-League fixture in Panchkula later this week, Punjab based Minerva FC had to travel back to their home city for final preparations ahead of their eagerly awaited clash in the I-League first round. Due to the unavoidable circumstances, there was a change in original schedule, which meant that Minerva could not play the final as per the revised schedule, as they were travelling back to Punjab,” official statement said.
In this regard prize distribution ceremony was held at Gindun Sports Centre Rajbagh in which secretary Youth Services and Sports J&K Sarmad Hafeez was chief guest.
