Srinagar, Febuary 23: India have suffered a double blow, with fast bowler Deepak Chahar and batter Suryakumar Yadav been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka.
“Deepak sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries,” BCCI statement said.
India’s 3-0 clean sweep over the West Indies catapulted them above England to become the top ranked T20 team in the world, but they will need to defeat Sri Lanka to hang on to that ranking.
The first of three T20Is will be held in Lucknow on Friday.
